DVD BUYER
TRANS WORLD ENTERTAINMENT is one of the largest specialty music and video retailers in the United States. The Company currently operates over 700 retail stores in the United States, the District of Columbia, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico and operates a retail web site at www.fye.com. You may know us under our brand names of F.Y.E., Suncoast brands, Second Spin, etc. The company offers a wide selection of entertainment products, including CDs, DVDs, video games, boutique/specialty items and related accessories. The company's headquarters, along with its main distribution center, is in Albany, NY with an additional distribution center in Carson, CA.
Trans World Entertainment's Merchandising team is seeking an experienced DVD Buyer to be responsible for the day to day relationship between our DVD business and the DVD suppliers. To qualify for this role candidates must have quantitative analytical skills, strong negotiation skills, marketing skills and creativity. Direct experience with the DVD industry is essential as this role involves interaction with senior management at studios and other suppliers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Negotiation of all aspects of commercial relationship with studios and other partners, including new release planning, promotions and terms negotiations.
- Initiation and management of projects and promotions to achieve short and long term business objectives.
- Liaising with the businesses global community to drive projects and share best practice.
- Working with the marketing team to drive effective campaigns for studio marketing budgets. Procure advertising commitments funds.
- Liaising with the Buying and Inventory teams to assist in decision making processes for managing stock and inventory.
- The central point of contact for studios for all issues, from accounting through to operational problems.
- Communication and negotiation with internal and external parties, whilst accurately tracking and delivering against tight deadlines.
- Working with internal teams to develop innovative campaigns. Define and drive cost saving initiatives, develops and improves processes.
- Develop promotional and new release pricing programs that maximize sales and gross profit.
- Enhancing the position of the organization.
The DVD Buyer will be accountable for:
- GMROI Plan - KPIs relating to selection, sales, margin, purchasing, inventory management, marketing revenue, discounts, rebates, Terms, Supply Chain - identifying drivers of these KPIs and suggesting/implementing ways to influence them.
- Hitting cost-out improvements targets.
- Understanding and working towards individual, department and company goals and strategies.
- Maintaining and improving the operational performance of studio partners.
- All aspects of studio relationship management.
